Evolence: A New Filler to Try

It is a naturally advanced collagen product that does not require a skin pre-test.   Collagen is very important to our skin’s health. It provides the structure and the strength in our skin. As we age, we loose collagen naturally due to sun exposure, smoking, and the natural aging process.  This results in decreased volume in skin as well as wrinkles.   I was injected with Evolence about 2 weeks ago into the folds around my mouth. When a client comes in to see me, I give them a mirror and ask them to tell me what is bothering them. I listen to their goals and then give my recommendations. After a plan is agreed upon, I go ahead and start the procedure. I always take pre-treatment photos and post-treatment photos that are then kept in the client’s chart. This photo documentation is helpful for the client and for myself. For the client, sometimes it is hard to remember how they looked prior to the treatment. I know this sounds a bit odd, but when you look at your self every day, you would be surprised how quickly you forget! Looking at the pictures helps me in continuing to learn about faces, how we age, and how best to achieve the client’s desired results. I really enjoy looking at the before and afters. Though I have been doing this for quite a while, I still get a sense of enjoyment and pride when I look at what I was able to achieve with the treatments. It truly is amazing how a client can go from looking tired and haggard to happy and well rested from just an hour treatment. And watching how my clients hold themselves differently after the treatments because they feel more confident. I do love my job!

Do your hands give your age away??     So many of my clients come in stating that they hate the way their hands look. They complain that their hands give away their age.  The reason is that as we age, we loose fat tissue on the back of the hands. A Hairless Summer: Dayna Rossi’s Corner

With warm weather quickly approaching, you think about the times when you just throw on a pair of shorts or a tank top and then realize that you have not shaved. Not a problem any more with laser hair removal! I hear so often ladies complaining about shaving or waxing their underarm and bikini hair. They complain of the inconvenience of always having to shave or having to go in to get waxing done and the cost associated with it. Compared to the cost of a lifetime of waxing, laser hair removal is a bargain! There are many other great aspects to laser hair removal. When you shave your underarms there is still always a dark shadow. There will be no dark shadow or stubble with laser hair removal. There will be no more problems with razor burn or unsightly ingrown hairs!

Problems with sweaty underarms??? Botox may be the answer!

A patient, who was in the other day for laser hair removal treatment, told me that she has issues with sweating in her armpits and that it is very embarrassing for her. She told me how she has considered surgery, but her husband thinks she is crazy to consider something so drastic and with risk. I told her about another option to treat her underarm sweating. Botox significantly decreases sweating under the armpit by not allowing the nerves to stimulate the sweat glands. Botox begins to work in approximately 2 days after treatment and can last for 6-10 months, with 7 months being the average. According to my patients who have had this procedure done, it is quite tolerable and not too uncomfortable. Botox is a great option if underarm sweating is a chronic issue for you or if you have a very special occasion (like your wedding) coming up where underarm sweating would very undesireable!

Botox? Can it improve my mood?

Many of my clients have noticed that the inability to frown elevates their mood.  They tell me about how they feel happier and less down with Botox. 

 

A growing body of work suggests that changing expressions can influence your mood.  A small study attempted to link the effect of Botox on mood elevation. The study provided support that people who were unable to furrow their brow because of Botox reported an improvement in mood. It was found that the improvement in mood was unrelated to appearance.

 

Botox is a purified protein that blocks the nerve from triggering muscles to move. Botox was originally approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2002 for the treatment of frown lines between the eyebrows.
